Field Parents Association
FPA Welcomes You
UPCOMING EVENTS
Parents, welcome to the 2010-11 school year at Field!  The class picnics last week were hugely successful, with big attendance and great food.  I think the parents had as much fun as the students, and it was a perfect opportunity to meet so many Field families, who come from throughout the metropolitan area as well as quite a few different countries, from Switzerland to China.

Today's back-to-school breakfast for all students and staff, hosted by the Field Parents Association, had incredibly beautiful weather for this outdoor first-day tradition and a particularly clear view into Washington and its monuments below.  However, the kids were focused on reconnecting and having some fun before the academic school day began.

I encourage new parents with any questions or concerns about the Field experience to contact me or one of your class representatives, listed on this page.  I guarantee your new student (s) will love the school, and will find that learning has never been so enoyable.

THE GOAL OF THE FIELD PARENTS ASSOCIATION
The goal of the Field Parents Association (FPA) is to build a stronger sense of community between parent and parent, and parent and school.  As stated in the bylaws, our objective is "to facilitate communication among parents of Field students, the school's administration, faculty, directors, and students; to represent the views of its members to the school; to provide a forum for sharing information among parents and between the school and parents; to organize programs and activities for students and parents; and to act as a resource to the school in a variety of capacities."

MEMBERSHIP IN FPA
Membership in the FPA is automatic for all Field parents.  To be a part of Field is to belong to a family, and the above goals cannot be met without the help and assistance of every family member.

VOLUNTEERING
By volunteering for any activity at Field, parents improve their communication with the school, benefit their child, and assist the teachers and staff greatly.  And — they have lots of fun working alongside fellow Field parents!  If you have any questions about volunteering, please email Volunteer Co-Coordinators Kathyrn Peyton Brown and Tyler Brown at klpeyton@yahoo.com or brownt@jacksonlewis.com , any FPA officer, or your grade representative.

There is no better way to get to know the school and other parents than by volunteering.
