THE FIELD SCHOOL STUDENT

We are often asked: What kind of student succeeds at The Field School? What kind of student loves and belongs at Field?

Our students do not come in one size or one style. They come in every color and from around the world. They have varied learning styles, and they are headed to a wide variety of colleges suited uniquely to them.

The first word of our mission statement, quite purposely, is "self-discovery" because The Field School is a place where individual student find the resources, support, and comfort to become themselves.

Students at Field tend to share certain qualities, however.
  • Field students are inspired by and comfortable in our small classes, which average only 11 students. They sit in the front row of almost every class and are excited by connecting with their teachers.
  • Field students want to be at a school where daring an opinion is valued over keeping quiet or where making a mistake is more likely the path to learning than playing it safe.
  • Field students thrive on the trust, support, and inspiration of great teachers.
  • Field students are eager to participate in arts every day.
  • Field students play sports regularly, relishing the chance to get exercise and have fun.
  • Field students are generous with each other: open and welcoming, embracing difference and finding commonality.
  • Field students are—proudly, easily, uniquely—themselves.
