Student Government Elections

It's that time of year again where we have our Student Government Association (SGA) elections. SGA is an important part of the Field experience, providing students with the opportunity to present ideas and bring them through to fruition, learn leadership skills, and make sure "student voice" is represented to the school administration.
Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders can run to be one of their two class representatives next year. Class representatives are the student liaisons for their grade, helping to plan grade-level events, and generally work with the Student Government on school-wide activities. Additionally, two 11th graders will be chosen as the co-executives for the school. Co-executives work closely with the school administration on all-school gatherings and will organize and lead the Student Government with the assistance of the faculty sponsors, Emily Xi, Dr. Kalil, and Aaron Bachmann.
Grade level representative speeches took place during the “grade level hangout time” on Friday, May 15. The five rising senior SGA co-executive candidates shared their platforms with the Field community during their speeches on Monday afternoon. Common topics included how to improve all-school gatherings, increasing school spirit, and ways to continue bringing us together as a community. A round of applause to all of our candidates who stepped forward to give speeches in front of their peers. As Aaron noted, "We had so many incredible candidates step forward this year, both for class representative and co-executive. To see that kind of energy by students -- especially amidst the pandemic -- is truly inspiring."
