Building Strong Foundations

Foundationally, a Field education puts the teacher-student relationship at the center of all classroom learning. Each child is seen, known, and heard by faculty and their peers. Students are valued for their strengths and supported through their struggles. They are encouraged to challenge themselves while our teachers, who serve as mentors and coaches, inspire students to reach beyond what they believe are their limitations and see the opportunities. Our exemplary teaching staff provides the appropriate scaffolding to ensure students build the skills they need to succeed at school and in the world beyond.

Educating For The Future

I believe in the power of education to transform individual lives and communities. I want our school to be a place of hope where meaningful relationships and joyful learning flourish. When I feel overwhelmed by societal problems and issues, I take refuge in our classrooms where our students are futurists – imagining, designing, and creating a better future.

Curiosity and Engagement Beyond Classroom Walls

Walking through our hallways, visiting classrooms, or going on field trips, you’ll find curious and engaged students asking essential questions, problem-solving, and collaborating to discover solutions to real-world issues. Field students are critical thinkers and doers in the learning process, which goes beyond the traditional methodology of schooling, beyond the content of a particular course, and beyond the walls of our campus. Students are encouraged when they fail and challenged to persevere. We believe that mistakes, trial, error, resilience, and reflection are all a part of the learning process.

Our students are innovators, problem solvers, and creators, often described as articulate, entrepreneurial, and kind.

Ongoing Professional Development for Inspirational Faculty

Our inspiring faculty are immersed in ongoing professional development to hone their teaching practice. From diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to forward-thinking pedagogy, our faculty continue their own journey of lifelong learning, allowing them to explore areas of passion and interest that they then extend to their students in clubs, electives, the classroom, and through Intersession.
