College Counseling at Field

Field students have varied and diverse interests and talents and our college matriculation list reflects the diversity of our students. College counselors support students throughout the process as they connect with colleges and universities that fit their personalities, academic interests, and social-emotional needs. The goal is to help students discover the "right-fit" college or university for the next step in their journeys.

Colleges and universities know Field students well. Our College Counseling team is strongly connected to representatives nationally and internationally, and we host hundreds of college representatives on our campus each year.

The Student and Family College Experience

The College Counseling Office hosts over 150 college and university representatives on campus in the fall to meet with students individually and in small groups to allow reps to learn about Field's students, our curriculum, and our unique and engaging community. We advise students and parents on standardized testing, recommendation letters, college essays, applications, interviews, college visits, merit awards, and financial aid. In addition, our robust and comprehensive program includes:

  • College Information sessions for families in grades 10-12
  • One-on-one student and family counseling
  • Curriculum-based College Seminar course in junior year
  • College Boot Camp intensive prior to senior year, led by college counselors and college representatives
  • Signature college counseling programs that include a fall “College Day” with a mini fair for all students in grades 9-12, a case studies event for families, and a spring college fair on Field’s campus, all enabling students to gain exposure to nearly 200 college representatives each year.

Five-Year College Matriculation

In addition to providing students with numerous opportunities to meet in person with college representatives and assisting students working on college essays and applications, Field's college team gave our student (and us parents, too!) the support, encouragement, and guidance to help our daughter find the “right-fit” school that she will attend in the fall.

Rachel Dorf (p ‘23, ‘26)

The college counseling team worked incredibly hard to help me identify the specific things I was looking for in a college while simultaneously empowering me to control my own future. The college office has the attitude of supporting and believing in you. I was never made to feel like I couldn’t do something…which made me believe in myself.

Pitzer College

The College Office was an enormous help and resource throughout my college admissions process. As a music student applying to a range of music programs, they helped me stay organized and on top of all of my portfolio requirements and essays. I cannot wait for the next four years and could not have made it happen without them!

Field college counselors really want to get to know each student and help them succeed. Through the college process, my counselor really got to know me as a person and understand what I was looking for in a college. I was also impressed with how many college representatives came to Field to have conversations with us. I think it really helped me in getting into my dream college.
