LOCATION: Potomac & Anacostia Rivers
PARTNERS: Anacostia Watershed Society
PADDLING OUTING: Our goal within the river component of this Environmental Science course is to provide a safe, but challenging environment for students to develop their leadership skills, while encouraging a sustainable form of environmental and wilderness ethic. In addition, students can gain a greater appreciation for both the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers and their resources above and beyond what other students experience during their time in the physical classroom on campus. My hope is that all of the Environmental Science students will leave the Field school with a well-informed understanding of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers. I also believe that students will gain skills that can be carried over into life-long recreation and a stronger appreciation of the outdoors.
