Gift from Josh ‘82 and Marjorie Harris is largest ever from alumnus

Washington, D.C. – May 30, 2025 – The Field School (Field) has received a $5 million gift from alumnus Josh Harris ‘82 and his wife, Marjorie Harris, to establish the Harris Athletic Training Center. This marks the largest single gift from an alumnus in the history of the School.

This new facility will enhance Field’s ability to offer students an experience that pairs academic

excellence with an enhanced, modern environment for exercise and wellness, and includes state-of-the-art equipment, training and performance resources. Construction, which begins next week on June 2, will also include new team meeting spaces and locker rooms, and a dynamic exercise, yoga and dance studio with an opening date planned for September 2025. The Harris Family Athletic Training Center will open onto a new practice field, scheduled to be completed in Fall 2026.

Josh Harris is a 1982 graduate of The Field School in Washington, DC. “The Field School played a transformative role in my life. It’s where I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and community—and where teachers and coaches saw potential in me before I saw it in myself,” said Josh Harris. “My family and I are deeply grateful to give back to a place that gave us so much, and we’re proud to help create a space that will support the next generation of student-athletes in every sense—physically, mentally, and emotionally.”

“This is a remarkable commitment from the Harris family. Josh ‘82 and Marjorie Harris are inspired by Field’s bold vision for teaching and learning and understand that enhanced training and athletic facilities ensures healthy, confident, and ambitious students who will contribute in meaningful ways to our shared future. I am proud and honored to be in partnership with the Harris family,” said Lori Strauss, Head of School.

This donation from Josh and Marjorie Harris is part of Field’s Think Bold, Be Inspired $20 million capital campaign and is representative of their work with Harris Philanthropies.
